I’m a single, white, Christian woman. I’m straight, I’m thirty-six, and I’ve never been married. I’m a virgin. I’m pro-life and a political moderate. I don’t really want to be married, and I definitely don’t want to have kids.

I have friends who are Christian, Jewish, Pagan, Buddhist, atheist, agnostic, gay, straight, bisexual, asexual. I have friends who are married, single, and divorced. I have friends who desperately long to be married, who might never find someone to marry.

I am tired of seeing single people marginalized by the church.

I’m also tired of listening to politicians on both extremes of the spectrum wrangling about healthcare and abortion and entitlement programs. The government shouldn’t be talking about any of those things. But they have to, because the church won’t step up to the plate.

Jesus said to visit the sick, feed the hungry, and love our neighbors as ourselves. I think it’s time the church started doing that.

Nice blog. I’m a single christian in my 30s and wanting to one day be married, but not sure that I will be. Unfortunately the church does not know how to do a good job with singles…especially the high percentage of single females in the church. Keep writing…

Hi Amy! Thanks for stopping by and commenting. It was just the push I needed to get motivated to write this blog again! I have known so many single people (mostly females) who feel called to serve the church, but aren’t being served by the church in return. It gets pretty discouraging. I think I’m going to start thinking more about what I WANT from the church… What do you think?
